Short Term GIS Consultancy in Zimbabwe

 

Background:

 

The Zimbabwe CBNRM forum will collaborate with CK2C (implemented by DAI) and COPASSA (implemented by WWF) to conduct a CBNRM Stocktaking Assessment.  This Assessment will focus on CBNRM impacts achieved and lessons learned in Zimbabwe.  The main goals of the CK2C undertaking are to identify, analyze and assess the various initiatives and to identify opportunities and impediments to further expansion, adoption, and execution of CBNRM in Zimbabwe.  Maps of CBNRM in Zimbabwe and associated subjects will be needed for the assessment.

 

Major tasks:

 

·         Collect geo-spatial reference information on locations of CBNRM CBO units and protected area units.

·         Prepare a national map of all CBNRM CBO units and protected areas.

·         Summarize number of hectares encompassed by CBNRM CBO units and protected areas.

·         Collaborate with an international consultant on all of these tasks as well as the development of a virtual tour of CBNRM sites in Zimbabwe.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

The consultant must be recognized as a GIS expert in Zimbabwe, having worked on GIS for a minimum of 3 years.  He/she should have a demonstrated history of preparing maps and working with other GIS experts.  The consultant will be someone who can readily access digital geo-spatial information for the CBNRM CBO Units and the protected areas.  Unqualified candidates need not apply.
