To the SASUSG membership Greetings, and welcome to 2009!
I hope that you find yourselves well rested and ready to tackle the challenges of the year ahead!
I apologize for my silence over the last six months. We have been working flat out, with the full support of the Executive Committee, to address issues around the NORAD grant, given the short period of time in which it was necessary to establish systems as well as deliver against the activities as per the approved SASUSG work plan for the no-cost extension period of June – December 2008.
Delivery has proved somewhat challenging, especially considering the dynamics of the Grant Administrator [IUCN] that we have been facing. However, it looks like we will be able to achieve significant progress on activities.
Moving forward, I would like to congratulate all those involved in the design of the interactive media and its subsequent launch today. This will allow for regular communications with the membership, as well as serving to improve the flow of information between members, our external partners and stakeholders.
As the Executive Committee, we will be intensifying strategic planning for the SASUSG network beyond the confines of the NORAD project. This will require extensive interaction and input from the Executive Committee and membership, in terms of defining our agenda, profile, constituency, aspirations and programme of work for the year ahead and beyond.
I look forward to walking this journey with you and taking moments to laugh, smile and smell the flowers along the way!
Wishing you the very best.
Your humble Chairman,
Kule Chitepo
