E-mail Print PDF

The Working Group to refine the SASUSG Sustainable Use Principles will be meeting during the week of 6-10 July 2008 in the coastal resort of Xai-Xai (pronounced Shai-Shai) in Mozambique. Headed by Rowan Martin, the group have been tasked with reviewing the Sustainable Use Principles that Rowan presented at the Grootbos AGM in 2007, and the latest version presented at Dedima in Cathedral Peak Reserve during our 2008 AGM in May. This Xai-Xai version will be published and presented at the WCC in Barcelona, Spain during October 2008.

Located about 200 kilometres north of Maputo, the town bustling town of Xai-Xai (pronounced shai-shai) is located near the banks of the mighty Limpopo River. Good swimming beaches, tidal pools, hotels and resorts are just a short drive from the town. Xai-Xai is a welcome stop-over for self-drive explorers heading to central and northern Mozambique. A variety of markets, shops, fuel and accommodation facilities are available. Xai Xai is within easy reach of the new Limpopo Transfrontier Park, with road access direct from the northern Kruger National Park in South Africa.
